#6: Soak Your Shower Head in Vinegar for an EASY Clean
Here’s a time-saving shower hack, especially for those without detachable shower heads. Add 1 cup of white vinegar, and tie a plastic bag around your shower head firmly, using a string, then soak for 30min to an hour.
After you’re done soaking your shower head, untie the bag, dump the vinegar down the drain, and scrub minor imperfections with toothbrush.
#7: How to Prevent a Shower Caddy from Rusting
Painting your shower caddy with a clear nail polish is an excellent way to protect the finish, and have your setup lasting LONGER. It only takes 5min to paint the surface, then all you have to do, is wait for the nail polish to dry, which takes less than an hour.
#8: EASILY Clean Your Shower with Grapefruit
If you’re looking for a SUPER QUICK & EFFICIENT way to clean / scrub your shower, cut a grapefruit in half, sprinkle a generous amount of salt on the surface, and scrub away.
Once you’ve rubbed down your shower head, and faucet, simply wash away the pulp / salt with warm water, and dry with a microfiber towel. Easy!
#9: Cut Your Nails AFTER Showering
This is a SUPERB shower hack for those who have thick, and tough to cut nails.
By cutting your nails AFTER you shower, the heat will have softened your nails, making them easier to cut. Super easy, and wonderfully effective!
#10: How To Clean Lime Stains & Hard Water with Pumice
Check out this video from Amy Reckher, showing how to use a pumice scouring stick to remove limescale, and hard water stains. This is a phenomenal method to add to your showering cleaning “bag of tricks,” and hacks!

They’re an awesome way to help clear your sinuses when you got the sniffles. Check out the video above from MamaMittens to learn how.
#12: Shower Hack for Skin – Moisturize IMMEDIATELY After Showering
If you’re having trouble with dry, and flaky skin, you NEED to try this hack. Most people enjoy hot showers, I know I do, so if cold showers are out of the question, you MUST moisturize. For best results, do this IMMEDIATELY after you get out of the shower, so the lotion can sink deep into your skin.
Kiss dry skin GOODBYE!
#13: Shower Hack for Skin 2 – EXFOLIATE while Showering
In the past, I used my exfoliating face scrub AFTER I showered, but now I see the light!
Use your scrub DURING your shower while your pores are freshly opened, from the steam. If you wait til after you shower, the clock is ticking, and your pores are closing. You have to try this, you’ll love the difference you notice!
#14: Shower Hack for Skin 3 – Use a Dry Brush BEFORE Showering for Glowing Skin
In addition to exfoliating DURING your shower, you can try “dry brushing” BEFORE your shower, to help remove excess skin follicles.
For your convenience, we’ve included the above video from Ashley Green, that explains dry brushing in detail.
#15: Shower Hack for Skin 4 – Use a DIY Sugar Scrub for Healthier Skin
Now that you’ve learned how it’s wise to exfoliate DURING your shower, here’s what you’ll exfoliate with! Here’s a stellar video from Recipes By Carina, that will show you how.
#16: How To make a DIY Shower Caddy
Here’s an awesome video from toDIYfor, showing how to make a DIY shower caddy. This can be done with only a couple dollars, and you can personalize it!
#17: DIY Shower Shelves
Installing DIY shower shelves is an easy way to increase space in your shower, without taking up a TON of room. Check out this awesome video from Guidecentral that shows how.
#18: Shower Hack for Hair – How to Keep your Hair Dry in the Shower – DIY Shower Cap
If you NEED to keep your hair dry, and you don’t want to pay for a shower cap, no worries! Get a clean plastic grocery bag, tie it around your head (making sure no hair is exposed), then tie tightly.
If you don’t need to use a shower cap routinely, try this cost efficient hack!
#19: Shower Hack for Hair 2 – Dry Hair with a T-Shirt
If you’re looking for an easy way to make your hair feel SOFTER, and LESS FRIZZY, you have to try this shower hack using a t-shirt. Simply replace your old towel, and use a t-shirt, the fibers will be less harsh on easily breakable hair, especially after hot showers.
#20: Shower Hack for Hair 3 – Maximize your Conditioner by Drying your Hair Before Use
Got this PRO TIP from a wonderful friend, who’s a hair stylist, and I haven’t been able to keep quiet about it since!
If you’ve never done this before, prepare to be AMAZED. Here’s what you do:
- After you’re done shampooing, dry your hair as much as possible
- Apply a quarter sized portion of your favorite conditioner to the roots of your hair, then work to the ends
- Leave in for 2min
After you try this, you’ll be AMAZED how much MORE you get out of your conditioner. When your hair is wet, when applying conditioner, most of the conditioner ends up going down the drain. This way, you’ll have softer hair, and use less conditioner at the SAME TIME.
#21: Shower Hack for Hair 4 – Rinse Out your Conditioner with COLD Water
Here’s another AMAZING shower hack for your hair I received from my friend. She’s a life saver!
Give this a try. Rinse out your conditioner with cold water, to lock in all the nutrients / moisture from your favorite conditioner. I know, I know, cold showers aren’t for everyone, but this is a hack worth trying for yourself!
#22: Tension Rod Hack – Add a Tension Rod + Clips for SUPERB Organization
Adding a tension bar is a fantastic way to declutter your shower. Simply add one wherever possible in your config, then add clips to hang your favorite accessories.
Also, this hack saves you time on cleaning! The days of creating those PESKY RINGS at the foot of your shower are OVER.
#23: Tension Rod Hack 2 – How to Keep a Tension Rod from Falling
If you’re having trouble with a stubborn tension rod, that keeps falling down at the WORST times, try this. Insert a felt furniture pad between the wall, and your tension rod, the felt will increase friction, and secure the rod more firmly in place.
#24: Shower Curtains Hack – Curtain Caddy
Install a shoe organizer, or “curtain caddy” to the top of your tension rod, for a quick diy organization solution for your shower. Simply cut a shoe organizer with scissors, to the desired amount of pockets, then hang with rings, or clips.
#25: Shower Curtains Hack 2 – Trim to Help Stay Clean
Did you know most shower curtains are not one size fit all?
Often times, they are made to be extra long, and this added length can lead to a shower curtain that gets dirtier, faster, and that’s no bueno. Cut a little off the end, and BOOM, less cleanup from there on out.
#26: Shower Curtains Hack 3 – Wash with Salt to Help Prevent Mold
Stop mold in it’s tracks, and wash your shower curtain in salt BEFORE your first use.
- Fill up your bathtub with warm water
- Add your shower curtain
- Add 2 cups of salt, mix til dissolved
- Soak for 3-4 hours
- Dry completely
#27: Comb or Brush your Hair BEFORE Showering
Unclogging a shower drain full of hair is GROSS. No one likes to do it, and if you know someone, I’d like to meet them.
Anyways, an easy PRO TIP to prevent this from happening is to brush or comb your hair BEFORE showering. You’ll be amazed how much longer your shower drain stays clean.
Here’s how you do it:
- Rinse your body with water, completely, in the first 30sec
- Turn off the water
- Use body wash, and wash your hair
- Turn water back on
- Rinse completely
This method will SAVE WATER & REDUCE showering time. A win win!
#29: How to Use Your Phone in the Shower
So, let me be the first to tell you, this shower hack isn’t for everyone. There are plenty of waterproof cases available these days, for most phones, but if you’re not looking to spend the extra money, here’s a fall back.
Put your phone in a plastic ziplock bag, AND SECURE TIGHTLY. Can’t stress this enough, but if you get the seal right, it works.
#30: How to Take a More Relaxing Shower – Utilize Lavender Essential Oils
Lavender is one my FAVORITE scents on the planet, and it has a TON of benefits, especially when used while showering. Mainly, it’s known for having soothing, and calming effects.
All you need to do is flick a little bit of the essential oil on your shower walls, turn your shower on with hot water, and wait for the steam to diffuse the oil. After you wait a couple minutes, you’re all ready for your shower in paradise!
#31: How to Read in the Shower
This shower hack plays to the same tune of shower hack #29, “How to use your phone in the shower.”
This hack is not for everyone, especially those who can afford a waterproof case. Nonetheless, if you get a plastic ziplock bag, and firmly secure your phone inside, making sure there’s no leaks, you can essentially read while showering.
#32: How to Watch TV in the Shower
Same goes for shower hack #32, as shower hack #29, and #31. A plastic ziplock bag is an option for making it possible to watch tv in the shower, but you MUST make sure its tightly sealed. Always remember, water and electronics DO NOT mix.
#33: Add a Shower Chair for Extra Relaxation
This one is pretty self explanatory, but if you’re not using a shower chair currently, give one a try. Giving yourself the option to sit in the shower, is something worth considering.
#34: PREVENT Rust Using Clear Nail Polish
Here’s another time saving / cleaning shower hack. Here’s what you do. Paint the bottom rims of your body wash, shampoo, conditioner, and other shower accessories with clear nail polish, to help prevent rusting, and ugly shower rings.
#35: How to Make Showering Fun – Sing Your Heart Out with a Bluetooth Shower Speaker
Did you know your bathroom is one of the BEST rooms in your house, in terms of sound quality? The hard walls, combined with the lack of soft furnishing allow sound to bounce with multiple reflections, leading to amazing acoustics.
Take advantage of this, and try adding a bluetooth speaker to create your very own home studio. Who doesn’t like to sing in the shower?
